With the cinegoers bored of same old stories which showed downfall of many big stars movies, Johny Antony directed "Masters" has something to cheer about. Prithviraj's first movie of this year would be great one if its first half got some punch. Anyway film makers made this suspense thriller "Masters" to get surely a one time watch, so go for this.......
Prithviraj portrayed the character of Sriramakrishnan, who is an IPS officer and Milan Paul performed by Sasikumar, a Journalist are best buddies and together from the college days. Sriramakrishnan always consult his cases with the Milan to get some investigation helps. Now came the day when Sriramakrishnan get the case of murder
of a businesswoman, who has some earlier connection in rape cases. While this murder took place with the suicide bombs by a girl Daksha enacted by Piaa Bajpai, In this case Daksha even doesn't know the killed woman.On this similar pattern some more incidents of suicide bombs occurred during the same time, which resulted into the Sriramakrishnan's nightmare. Sriramakrishnan started the investigation and searched out the background details of the victims, where he came out with the interesting link between the murders. There you feel some interest to watch this film and second half is a good one, which take up the burden of rest of the "Masters".
Director Johny Antony definetely needs a applause for taking up this full fledge action thriller, while decision to cast Sasikumar in the lead with Prithviraj is just gone unwairy. Sasikumar's dubbing and his reactions with Prithviraj looks gone out of connection. Scenarist Jinu Abraham scripted a pretty well thriller and made a mark with "Masters".Climax of "Masters" is nice, but with the feel of the second half, it could have been predicted with the different climax. Prithviraj as usual best with the cop's character, Sasikumar made his debut with the unexpected manner in Malayalam. Ananya, Sandhya, Piaa Bajpai, Biju Menon, Mukesh, Sai Kumar, Salim Kumar and others just finish it well, although they don't get enough time to share the screen.
Direction of Photography from Madhu Neelakandan frames out the real shot to the "Masters", with every scene and actions it get better and better. Ranjan Abraham done some fine cuts to jell the sequences pretty well to make "Masters" a thriller. Gopi Sundar's music is only for one song which "Masters" only has is hearable, otherwise Background Score not up to the expectations. For the banner of Sincere Cinema, B.Sarath Chandran produced this malayalam movie is distributed to the theatres by Seven Arts Release.
